About the University
The Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed to be University (GRI-DTBU) was founded in 1956 by two disciples of Gandhiji, Dr.G.Ramachandran and Dr.T.S.Soundaram.
The University Grants Commission, New Delhi, in 1976, conferred on it the status of a Deemed to be University. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, has accredited the Institute with "A" grade status in 3rd Cycle in 2016.
The Institute offers Doctoral, Masters and Bachelors Degree, Diploma and Certificate programmes through its eight academic schools.
GRI-DTBU is one of the most highly placed centres of rural higher education in the country, funded fully by UGC and governed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Accommodation can also be arranged on payment in Hotel on request at Dindigul which is 12 kms from the University. Participants staying outside should make their own travel arrangement to reach the Conference Venue Gandhigram.
