The  Gandhigram Rural Institute  Library was established in 1956. It moved to the present building in 1987, stocking over 1.5 lakh books. The Library is named after the Founder Vice-Chancellor Dr. G. Ramachandran. The Library has been computerised for circulation and searching of books with SOUL (Software for University Libraries), developed by INFLIBNET Centre (An IUC of the University Grants Commission), Ahmedabad. The digitization of library documents is also under progress. The Library has UGC-INFONET E-journals access facility with 1 GB connectivity provided by UGC- INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad through ERNET India, New Delhi. The total area of the Library building is about 12600 sq.ft.

Monday-Friday 9.00 a.m.- 9.00 p.m.

On all Saturdays 9.00 a.m.- 5.00 p.m.

On all Sundays 9.00 a.m.- 1.00 p.m.

During Vacation 9.00 a.m.- 5.30 p.m.

9.30 a.m.- 5.30 p.m. (Ciruclation)

  

Rules

  1. Users are requested to deposit their bags/belongings (other than valuables) at the Property Counter.
  2. Users should write their names and other details in the gate register kept for the purpose.
  3. Users are requested to observe silence inside the library.
  4. Users are requested not to replace the books on shelves.
  5. Misuse of library facilities is an offence and calls for punishment as decided by the competent authority.
  6. Users are requested to keep the library neat and tidy.

  1. Books borrowed must be returned on or before the due date.
  2. Only one renewal can be done at any one time.
  3. Books will have to be physically presented for renewals.
  4. Books will be renewed if there are no reservations.
  5. Users are requested to verify the physical condition of the book/s before borrowing.
  6. For late return of books, overdue charges will be collected as per rules in force.
  7. Users are requested to collect receipt for fine amount paid by them.
