Global Business Foundation Skills Training Cell

The Global Business Foundation Skills Training Cell (GBFSTC) of the Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed to be University) has been formed to train the final year undergraduate students of the Institute to be better prepared for careers in general and the ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services) sector in particular.

The Global Business Foundation Skills (GBFS) program helps the final year undergraduate students to become ‘industry ready’ before they walk out of the portals of the university. It trains the students in basic foundation skills, which will help them be better prepared for employment, especially in the Business Process Management (BPM) industry. The program has been developed by experts from NASSCOM member companies, such as Accenture, Convergys, Deloitte, Dell, Genpact, Infosys BPO, and IBM.

Key benefits of GBFS program, envisioned by NASSCOM:

  • Student: Industry awareness, up-skilling to prepare for entry-level job opportunities in the Indian BPM industry
  • Teacher/Trainer: Higher training skills, job satisfaction, permanent asset to their institution
  • University/College: Graduating students who are employable, increased goodwill, higher interest from industry
  • Industry: Trained/certified resources at entry level jobs, lesser on-the-job training duration leading to savings in the training, lesser attrition
  • Country: Employable workforce with higher earning capability, attracting serious investors

The GBFSTC team of GRI has been constituted by the Vice Chancellor to further this agenda. The members of the team underwent an intensive nine-day training program organised by Infosys BPO at Mangalore, Karnataka in the month of August 2017
